Counting dhikr — SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar and other words of remembrance — usually means a handheld tasbih or counting on your fingers. This free online tasbeeh counter does the same job on your phone or computer: tap to count, set a goal like 33 or 99, and keep several dhikr going with their own totals, all saved automatically in your browser.
What is a tasbeeh counter?
A tasbeeh counter — also spelled tasbih counter — is a digital tool for counting dhikr, the words of remembrance repeated during and after prayer, such as SubhanAllah ("Glory be to God"), Alhamdulillah ("Praise be to God") and Allahu Akbar ("God is greatest"). Instead of moving beads along a physical tasbih or misbaha, or keeping count in your head, you tap once per repetition and the running total is shown on screen.
This tool keeps that total per phrase, not just one number: SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah and any zikr you add each have their own count, their own goal, and their own place in your library. When a goal is reached, the pad shows a goal-reached message, the count turns gold, and you get a distinct tone and vibration so you notice without having to look down.
How to use this tasbeeh counter
It opens ready to use, with four common dhikr already loaded:
- Pick a zikr. Tap one of the chips along the top — SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar or SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi — to make it the active one.
- Tap the pad to count. Every tap anywhere on the large pad adds one to the active zikr's total, with a short click and a light vibration for feedback.
- Watch for your goal. If the active zikr has a goal, a progress bar fills underneath it, and reaching the goal shows "Goal reached" with a different tone.
- Reset when you're done. Reset clears the active zikr back to zero; Reset All clears every zikr's count in one go.
- Come back any time. Close the tab, come back later, and every count is exactly where you left it.
Four built-in dhikr, with their default goals
The counter opens with four dhikr already pinned to the top row, each with the goal commonly used for it:
| Dhikr | Default goal |
|---|---|
| SubhanAllah | 33 |
| Alhamdulillah | 34 |
| Allahu Akbar | 34 |
| SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi | 100 |
Each is written out in Arabic script on the counting pad as well as shown by name on its chip, and each keeps a separate count — switching chips never resets or mixes up your progress on the others.
Pin up to four, and build your own library
The chip row along the top can hold up to four pinned zikr at once. Tap the library icon to open the full Zikr Library, where every zikr you've added lives, not just the pinned ones. From there you can pin or unpin any entry (unpinning one first if you're already at four), edit its name, text or goal, delete it, or use Reset to Defaults to bring back the original four exactly as they started.
Add your own zikr, with automatic Arabic (RTL) support
Only counting the four defaults? Tap the plus icon to add any zikr you like — Istighfar, Salawat, a personal dua, or anything else — by typing or pasting a short name and the text itself, with an optional goal. Text in Arabic or another right-to-left script is detected automatically as you type and displayed right-to-left, on the chip, on the counting pad and in the library, with no setting to switch. A new custom zikr is pinned to the top row automatically if there's room, and becomes the active one straight away.
Set a goal and watch the progress bar
Counting towards a set number — 33, 99, 100, or any target of your own? Enter it in the Goal field under the pad; it applies to whichever zikr is currently active. A progress bar appears under the pad showing how far along you are, and the moment your count reaches the goal, the pad announces it, the count turns gold, and you get a distinct tone and a longer vibration pattern. Clear the goal field to count without a limit.
Sound, vibration, theme and fullscreen
Sound and vibration are on by default and can each be switched off from the toggles under the pad — useful in a quiet room or a masjid. Reaching a goal plays a different, longer tone than a regular tap so you can tell them apart without looking. The moon/sun icon switches between light and dark, and the expand icon fills your whole screen with the counter, handy when you want a bigger pad to tap or a bigger number to read.
Works on your phone, tablet and PC — no app needed
This tasbeeh counter runs in any modern browser, so it works the same way on an Android phone, an iPhone, an iPad, a laptop or a desktop PC, with nothing to install. On a touchscreen you tap the pad directly; on a computer with a keyboard, pressing Space or Enter counts the active zikr as well, as long as you're not typing in a text field. Looking for a tasbeeh counter app? You don't need one — add this page to your phone's home screen and it opens like an app, without using storage or asking for any permissions.
What can you use a tasbeeh counter for?
Anywhere you'd otherwise count dhikr on a physical tasbih or on your fingers, this tool can take over the counting so you can focus on the remembrance itself:
- Dhikr after salah — the classic sequence of SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah and Allahu Akbar, each already loaded with its usual count
- Istighfar and Salawat — add either as a custom zikr with whatever goal you're aiming for
- Daily or set-number dhikr — anything counted to a specific target, using the goal and progress bar
- Ramadan and extra worship — keep several dhikr going at once, each with its own running total
- General remembrance counting — any phrase, in any language, added through the library
Holding a count in your head while also trying to focus on the words themselves is hard, and easy to lose partway through. This tool takes that load off you — the number is always visible and only changes when you tap.
Tasbeeh counter vs. a physical tasbih
A string of beads still works well, and plenty of people prefer holding one. But a physical tasbih only counts up, can't be reset to a mid-point, and if you lose your place there's no way to check. A digital tasbeeh counter like this one keeps several dhikr going with separate totals, shows you exactly how far you are from a goal, and is already on the phone in your pocket — no beads to carry or misplace.
Your counts stay on your device
Every tap, every zikr you add, and your sound and vibration settings are saved in your own browser as you go — closing the tab or refreshing the page never loses them. Nothing is sent to a server or shared anywhere. If you want to start completely fresh, use Reset to Defaults in the library to remove any custom zikr and restore the original four.
Counting something other than dhikr? The Tap Counter adds and subtracts with a single tap, and the Tally Counter gives you classic five-bar tally marks across several lanes.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a free online tasbeeh counter?
Yes — this page is one. Open it on any phone or computer and tap to count; no download, sign-up or account is needed.
What is a tasbeeh counter?
A tasbeeh counter (also written tasbih counter) is a digital tool for counting repetitions of dhikr — words of remembrance repeated during and after prayer, such as SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah and Allahu Akbar. It does the same job as a handheld tasbih or misbaha with beads, but on a screen, keeping a running count for you.
What dhikr phrases does it come with?
Four are built in: SubhanAllah with a goal of 33, Alhamdulillah with a goal of 34, Allahu Akbar with a goal of 34, and SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi with a goal of 100. All four are pinned to the top row by default.
Can I add my own zikr, such as Istighfar or Salawat?
Yes. Tap the plus icon to add any zikr text you like, in any language, with an optional goal, and it's saved to your library alongside the defaults.
Does it support Arabic text and right-to-left display?
Yes. Chip labels, the counting pad and the custom-zikr text field each detect Arabic and other right-to-left script automatically and display it right-to-left, no setting to change.
Can I set a goal, like 33 or 99?
Yes. Enter any goal under the counting pad. A progress bar tracks it, and reaching it shows a goal-reached message with a distinct tone and vibration.
Do I need a tasbeeh counter app?
No. This browser-based tasbeeh counter works the same way as an app and loads instantly. Add it to your phone's home screen if you want an app-style icon.
Is my count saved if I close the page?
Yes. Every count, your custom zikr and your settings are saved automatically in your browser and are still there when you come back on the same device and browser.
